2016 Festival Dates
  • 2016 Entries Now Open

Entries are now open for the 2016 NSW School Band Festival. We have updated the invocie system so please take the time to read the directions before proceeding.

With a new, more flexible invoicing system we will be introducing a progressive pricing structure over the coming years to take into account the actual cost of each event. The Grainger Premier Event is the first event to attract a modest increase as we implement a differentiated price structure.

The first School Band Festival was organised by the Band Association of NSW in 1962. Held at Chatswood Oval, eight brass bands initially took part and marching was compulsory. The following year the event moved to the Lane Cove Town Hall, the marching taking place in the car park with bands having to wheel around parked cars!

The NSW School Band Festival is held each year in the Sir John Clancy Auditorium at the University of NSW, Kensington (in Sydney's eastern suburbs).

The Sir John Clancy Auditorium is the eastern suburbs' largest public auditorium and is ideally suited for our Festival. Click on the link below to find all you need to know about the Clancy.
